Oyster

by CHIHULY for the rug company

To celebrate craftsmanship, renowned studio glass artist Dale Chihuly has collaborated with The Rug Company on a second collection, Masterpieces II.

Dale Chihuly is an American artist who revolutionised the studio glass movement and elevated perceptions of the glass medium.

Known for ambitious architectural installations in cities, museums, and gardens worldwide, Chihuly utilises various media to realise his creative vision, including glass, paint, charcoal, neon, ice, and Polyvitro.

The first glass artist to collaborate with The Rug Company, Chihuly’s genius, mysterious, and magical designs can transform any room or space they grace.

Inspired by Chihuly’s glass oeuvre, these four rugs challenge the notion of textile craft by capturing glasswork’s fluidity, energy and translucency through wool and silk.

His bold, enticing and immersive artworks have invigorated the world’s greatest institutions, famed streets and ornate gardens with a distinct otherworldliness.

Inspired by Chihuly’s layered glasswork in his Macchia series, Oyster presents jewel toned silk hues atop a neutral Tibetan wool base. Handknotted by our craftspeople in Nepal, this design showcases organic markings against a ripple motif, reminiscent of an exposed shoreline.
